Following two earlier EPs, 'Shower of Bastards' is the full-length debut of Sheffield-based experimental rock band Hocus Jumbo. Progressive Rock is pushed to the fore on this record, although it retains the heavy-guitar aesthetic of the band's Stoner Metal roots. Suffused with a melancholic bleakness that owes a debt to the tradition of Yorkshire Doom, the album is shot through with a dark psychedelic mood inspired by 70s Acid-Folk, whilst drawing further influences from a diverse range of rock genres and beyond.
